City Break to Langebaan

posted in: Phone Photography, Travel | 14

Having known that I wanted to just tuck up in bed and pretend it isn’t my birthday, my husband surprised me with a weekend away to Langebaan… One of those coastal towns I’ve been secretly eyeing out to visit.

We checked in at the Crystal Lagoon Lodge which is located along Calypso Beach – it’s on private property with restricted access. And yep, this means that the beach was quiet with just 3 or 4 people scattered across the shore at any given moment.

Because we were told that the room we got was the last one available, our expectations were average. Then we were shown our room… which turned out to be a brilliant deluxe suite with prime views of the Atlantic ocean’s waves crashing against the rocks on the shore. Mind = blown.

The Crystal Lagoon Lodge is a smallish yet cosy bed and breakfast. It’s small enough to actually find your way around without getting lost, and large enough to have your own space and privacy. There’s wifi and secure parking; Club Mykonos is a walking distance; and there’s a mall nearby with everything a tourist could possibly need (halal meat is available at the PnP – perfect for braai).

Upon arriving in Langebaan, a couple’s massage package awaited us at the Zest Spa, located on the Langebaan Country Estate. The spa was modest in terms of size and facilities, yet service was uncompromised with friendly ladies at our beck and call. I had one of the best neck & back massages (rivals my experience at the Heavenly Spa in The Westin).

Langebaan is such a beautiful destination: it was romantic, fun, relaxing and indulgent… Exactly what I needed to realise that age is just a number and that youthfulness resides in the heart. 🙂

Yep, I can see why it’s one of your favourites. The people are also very welcoming. I am looking forward to making another trip in the near future.
