Smoothie Smitten

posted in: Food | 16

Thanks to my eldest sister who recently introduced me to an awesome blender/smoothie maker, I am pretty excited about blending (and smoothing?). I bought myself the Safeway Gym Blender today and gave my first smoothie a try!

IΒ Googled some recipes and eventually found one that required the ingredients I already had (well, sort of). I’ve substituted here and there and came up with what my husband described as a ‘delicious’ smoothie. πŸ˜‰

Introducing my banana and date smoothie:

It’s light, small (= easy storage), and comes with two bottles which is ideal for yourself and your partner. πŸ™‚

Safeway Gym Blender I’m quite keenΒ to try out other smoothie recipes. So if you have any cool (and by cool I mean quick, simple and healthy) recipes, please do share!

      Hi πŸ™‚
It crushes ice as well – I just made a Nutella milkshake on Sunday and it crushed the ice perfectly. Are you planning on getting one? πŸ™‚

Hi, I’m thinking of buying this specific blender….. would you still recommend it so many months later? I just find that some of the others that are out there are very pricey, and if this is still a great machine over time, then it might just be worth is. Your advice is appreciated. Thank you

Hi Lenise. I would still recommend it. I still use it, for more than just making smoothies. I use it to liquidise tomatoes and grind nuts for cooking, for example. Because it is a light machine with size-appropriate power, the best way to use it is to put small-medium sized amounts in at a time for blending. While some people may find this to be an inconvenience, I actually don’t mind it. And for the price, it’s still very much worth it.

Thank you Saajida. I appreciate you getting back to me…. and your opinion. Cheers.
